Wow, Day 5 started out pretty mundane but ended with a bang (which will explain why I am writing this the next morning).

We spent most of the morning fixing the boat from the day before’s breakdowns. A hilarious Irishman came and fixed the water pump. We were very impressed with their speed until we got the bill and were slapped with a “convenience fee”. We swallowed that bitter pill, just glad it is fixed.

Next, Dave tackled our poo situation, while I did laundry and went to the gym. I felt a little guilty that he was elbow deep in poo and replacing the duck bills, but let’s be honest, we all know I was so glad not to be fixing the poo pump.

How glamorous is this vacation!

By the time I was done, Dave had the poo pump fixed, but the joke ended up on me, as I had to clean the bathroom afterward. Yikes and gross!!!!! That could have been a pootastrophe, so I am not going to complain, very happy it’s fixed.

With all the chores out of the way and the boat back in working order. We decided to go to the pool and have a few drinks.

There are 450 Argentinian 15-year-olds staying at our hotel. They are on some giant quinceañera trip. These girls have run all over the hotel, giggling and having fun. They must all have been out for the day because we had the pool to ourselves, and then, out of nowhere, they started flooding in.

It is pretty funny to watch. Every girl was wearing the tiniest bathing suit imaginable. Every teenage boy turned into a peacock, and every grown man was just trying not to watch.

This picture doesn’t do justice to the number of girls at the pool.

After a few hours, Dave said our friend Primo was coming to see us! What a great surprise. He is one of Dave’s lifelong friends. They were in the Marines together when they were 18.

Drinking and having fun with Primo!

We had the best time, maybe too good a time. The alcohol was flowing. We closed down the bar, and then we closed down (or maybe passed out).

I woke up this morning with a hangover and a reminder never to drink with Marines; the end result is always bad.

Overall, a really good day. A lot of relaxing, time with a dear friend, and the boat is fixed. July 4th should be pretty spectacular. They set off the fireworks right across from our marina. I am excited to see them from the comfort of our boat’s bow.

Only one more day in Ft. Lauderdale and then it is on to the Bahamas!
