Today has been a day of ups and downs, but then you have to remember you wanted a boat. You wanted to be in a constant state of repair.
Let’s start over at the beginning. I slept in, which means I missed my workout this morning! It also meant it threw off most of our morning.
The first thing we did today was register our boat with customs. We are now ready for the Bahamas! Dave then dragged me to West Marine. Drug is the accurate term because I felt dead inside after an hour of fender basket and fishing pole conversation.
Once we got back from the third level of shopping hell, Dave installed more crap on the boat, and I worked out ( yes, I still got it in).
After we took care of our “chores,” it was time to take the boat out. This is when the boat decided to do a giant screw you for the rest of the day.
Screw you, number 1: the head is not flushing
We decided to live with the head issue and go out, hoping it fixes itself.
Before we could do anything, we had to get gas.
Screw you, number 2: the gas vent isn’t working right and spitting gas all over Dave.
After 160 gallons of gas (the dock hand said last week they put 36k gallons in a boat, that’s over $150k!!!!!), we were ready to go exploring.
We had a lovely afternoon around the canals and in the ocean. Until…

Of course, I am on my bean bag, it is amazing!

The sexist captain I know!

What a beautiful view of Ft Lauderdale

We loved being on the water today!!!!
Screw you, number 3: the left engine’s water pump went out.
Dave limped the boat back to our slip, and the repairman is coming tomorrow.
We decided to say screw it all and have a fabulous dinner. We went to 15th Street Fisheries. It was incredible but pricey. Dave said it was the most expensive dinner we have ever had for just the two of us.

Pan seared Grouper with quinoa
Snapper in green curry with basmati rice.
Fried cheesecake
Creme Brûlée duo

Ouch!!!
We have finally settled into the boat for the night, no head and broken engine, but tomorrow is another day, and we will spend it on the beach!
