We were supposed to go to Graz this morning, instead we slept in and hung out in Vienna. We decided to spend the day shopping and exploring more markets.

I needed a bathing suit because we are going to a Roman bath in Prague tomorrow, and I forgot a suit. We ended up in a sporting good store that was going out of business and cleaned house! Oh how I wish I could have taken it all home with us. The sales were unreal.

After we took our haul back to the hotel, we went back to Stephensplatz to go inside St. Stephens. On our way back to the church and the Nespresso store (Dave is obsessed with them) we stopped for fish and chips.

Dave ate this herring sandwich. I was dying! Eventually I tried it, not bad, taste a little like tuna fish.

After I talked Dave off the Nespresso ledge, seriously who can afford to own those! We went to St. Stephens inside. It was so incredibly beautiful. I didn’t take any pictures because that makes me uncomfortable in a church. It rivaled almost any church we have been in, always amazing to us that it was built in the 14th century and still standing today.

From there we headed back to the markets. We made it to Karlsplatz today. It was a small and very quaint market with a lot of homemade crafts. We really liked it.

Karlskirche built in the 18th century. The market was below its steps in Karlsplatz.

Glühwein mug. This mug has brown sugar they set on fire and then melts in the drink. We thought to take the picture too late to see the burning sugar. Fail!

After the market, we did a little window shopping and ended up at the Sky Bar. It is at the top of a department store and has great views of the city. The bartender was great and so were our drinks. I made a joke about a Viennese pina colada, and he made it for me. The best pina colada I have ever had!

The best pina colada ever! It was so delicious we didn’t get a picture until it was almost gone!

Our next stop was Karma Ramen for dinner. It was rated the top Ramen house in Vienna, and it did not disappoint. We had the most delicious dinner!

Korean short ribs

Gyoza

Tonkotsu ramen and Spicy pork ramen

Wine sake spritzer, I may have had one spritzer too many.

Dave and I were feeling pretty good and decided to go to the wine bar by the hotel. Once we got off the subway, the lights of the Rathaus market called our names again. Since it was Monday, at 830pm, and raining, we basically had the market to ourselves. This was pretty great because both times we have been to the market was CHAOS.

I found a great ornament of an elf, apparently the national elf of Austria, because he is everywhere.

I also found our Christmas village. When we were here for our wedding, we bought a Christmas village. Each building is a replica of a building in Germany. Tonight we were able to buy 2 more buildings. We have been looking everywhere for it and couldn’t believe our luck.

Dave also found a Trdelník vendor and he was so excited. We ate one and then went back for another. When we went back, it was closing time and they gave him two. It was like watching a little boy at Christmas.

Christmas Village!

Dave was so excited for two Trdelníks

Our last stop of the night, and where we are still sitting, is at the bar of our hotel sharing a bottle of wine.

Today we had no plans. We wandered, we shopped, we ate. Sometimes no plans are the greatest plans.

Tomorrow is our anniversary. We are spending the night in Prague. We are very excited! I can’t wait to celebrate another year with my best friend!
