Tanks of Gas – 5 (2 in very scary areas)

Day 2 started for me at 5 am to get my workout in before we headed out. Working out on vacation feels like torture!

We had to take the Bimini off and put the cover on before we could leave, so we didn’t get on the road until about 8.

Dave and I appearing excited and happy to be on the road. In reality, we were both already sweating, and I had to make Dave smile, but hey, every journey needs a getting-started pic!

We only made it about 2 hours when we realized there was something wrong with the trailer. We were getting major trailer sway. We stopped in Louisiana and raised the boat about a foot on the trailer. Fixing that was definitely an adventure and a little scary.

Stopping for gas is definitely not what I expected. We have to get gas with the semis. That means waiting in these huge semi lines and prepaying. It also feels a little bit like Frogger crossing the parking lot.

I was excited to see the Mississippi. It is always shocking how big and powerful.

Needless to say, we are 12.5 hours in and about 30 minutes from Daphne, AL. We are very hopeful that one of the hotels has parking big enough for our boat.

12 hours later, tired, hungry, and ready to be out of the truck.

Tomorrow we hope to be on the road by 6 am. It is a rest day, thank goodness for one day off from exercise. We should be in our slip by 5 pm if everything goes as expected.

One more day!!!

After post edit:

We just tried to park at a hotel. By far the scariest thing I have ever witnessed. Not only was it pitch dark, but we almost got stuck in a parking lot. I just knew we were going to take out a row of cars. Thankfully, Dave saved us! We are now safely parked in a shopping center and eating a late dinner.
